Ecuador

If I had to choose my favorite part about Ecuador,

it would have to be Ecuador's people.
The majority of the population of Ecuador is of mixed indigenous and European decent. One quarter are indigenous. There are over 2 dozen indigenous groups, each with their unique language and dress.

The Quichua have made Otavalo, the site of one of the world's largest open air markets, famous with their beautiful handiwork. Other groups include the Shuar, Huaorani and the Chachi.

Most of the people served by our mission are indigenous people who speak Spanish in addition to their indigenous language, with a few able to communicate only in their indigenous language. Very little English is spoken.
