We are scheduled to return to Rio San Juan, Dominican Republic, where we went in February of 2016. The hospital is government run and does not offer any surgical services. We will be serving people who cannot afford private care, and have little or no access to free care.
This trip is sponsored by Medical Ministry International of Canada (the US office of MMI closed down). The local team has been doing monthly missions, most of them offering surgery, for many years. The town of Rio San Juan is on the north coast of the Dominican Republican, on the Atlantic Ocean. There are a number of resorts there but the town is pretty bare bones.
We are looking for medical professionals to work in surgery and serve in supportive roles – general and OB-gyn surgeons, nurses, anesthesia professionals, OR techs, and general helpers. We welcome nursing and medical students. Our team will also include two high school student translator/helpers.
