During our annual two week trips, volunteers from Maine's Hancock County Medical Mission serve those in Latin America who cannot afford proper medical attention.
We began as a group of volunteers associated with three hospitals in Hancock County, Maine: Mount Desert Island Hospital in Bar Harbor; Blue Hill Memorial; and Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth.

Over our 25 years, the core group from Maine has picked up members from other states and Canada. We are joined each year by a couple of high school students from our home area, who translate and assist the medical team in exchange for having most of their trip paid for.

We are also joined by medical, surgical, anesthesia and nursing students.
24 missions and counting!
