During our annual two week trips, volunteers from Maine's Hancock County Medical Mission serve those in South America who cannot afford proper medical attention.
Originally, all our volunteers were associated with Hancock County's three hospitals: Mount Desert Island Hospital in Bar Harbor; Blue Hill Memorial; and Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth.

Now, after more than 23 years, volunteers represent a wider area of Maine, and join with others from elsewhere in the USA and Canada.

We also have a scholarship program that funds two or three Hancock County high school students to come, translate for us, and improve their Spanish.

And nearly every mission, we are joined by medical residents and by students in the areas of care that we provide.

Non-medical volunteers play a vital role with logistics, maintenance, Spanish translation, and child care.
24 missions and counting!
